A first-hand glimpse into the training and temperament it takes to be Lionsgate’s The Hitman’s Bodyguard.

The Project

In the film, Michael Bryce (Ryan Reynolds) is an elite, AAA-accredited bodyguard, who’s forced to protect his nemesis, world-renowned hitman Darius Kincaid (Samuel L. Jackson). To promote the release, we created a recruitment website as red-band as the film itself. Using an AAA pre-screener, candidates underwent a series of gesture-controlled multichoice assessments. Like the film, Kincaid disrupted the flow with funny & unpredictable R-Rated rants. Recruits were then awarded 1 of 3 certificates, shared on social media. We recreated this experience for Snapchat, and, in chatbot form, for Facebook Messenger and Twitter DM.

My Role
UX Designer

As the senior creative on this project, I oversaw creative production, reporting to our Design Director. As the UX designer, I envisioned the whole flow, defined the mechanics and created the decision tree. The gesture-based navigation required close collaboration between myself, our visual designer, and developers. I saw the project end-to-end, from envisioning the flow to selecting key clips, to final launch.
